[Comp] rabble’s Boomtown Banter Battle.

In Blog, Highlightsby rabble1 Comment

rabble has teamed up with Boomtown, the UK’s maddest festival for a very unique competition.

We know you rabblers enjoy the summer festival season and we’re offering you the chance to win two camping tickets to Boomtown.

The winner takes it all. And we’ve a deadly plan for the remaining entries too. Edited versions of them will be used in a roll-the-dice, rabble board game that continues the festival theme. This will take pride of place as our next centre spread. There’ll be one of those for everyone in the audience.

  • It’s a really simple competition. Just jot down your funniest, saddest, maddest and best festival stories.
  • Keep them short and sweet. We know ye are fond of prattling on – but 150 words or so will do!
  • Don’t be shy, but don’t be a prick and go naming and shaming your friends. No one likes a smartarse.
  • It doesn’t have to be all stories of mad-out-of it mischief – there’s plenty of wholesome niceness that happens at festivals too.The story with the most votes wins the prize.
  • Edited versions of the remaining stories will be used as part of our next centre spread.Voting takes place here in full public view.

The closing date for the competition is noon Thursday, June 28th.

You (and yer mates…) can vote once per day.

Here’s some info on the festival itself.

BoomTown, Thursday 9th – Sunday 12th August – Matterly Estate, Winchester 17,000 capacity

LINE UP SO FAR:
SKA, SWING, PUNK, ROCKABILY: Secret Sunday Headliner TBA / Reel Big Fish / Caravan Palace / The Skatalites / Balkan Beatbox / Asian Dub Foundation / plus many, many more…
Going in to its 4th year, BoomTown team up with Arcadia this year to create a huge, pyrotechnic, sculptural extravaganza on a scale only ever seen before at Glastonbury. Unlike any other festival: the legend of BoomTown tells it was once a small but prosperous retreat now overhauled into a land of lawless rebels, with only the town official’s to uphold its former glory. BoomTown has sold out every year, with the festival goers bringing as much of the entertainment to the show as the organisers. With so much packed into the huge mock town, last year’s highlights included; high octane headline performance from Gogol Bordello, more reggae, dub and ska then you can shake a stick at, dance-offs, street parties, mutate vehicles, marriages and body crunching bass round the clock from Bassline Circus and The Lion’s Den as well as all the hidden gems scattered around the town in tiny nooks and crannies, eccentric side streets and secret alleyways! 2012 is not to be missed.

  1. i’m again disheartened that an independent magazine such as yourselves is leaning so heavily on one of the world’s largest media companies. how could it be, that to enter a rabble competition, you HAVE to be signed up to facebook?

that makes no sense to me at all!
