With the GUBU nation turning its head in a 360 degrees violent spin over a country crooner, this deflated dub monster has been stuck on a loop in this rabbler’s head.
It completely captures the shtate of the nation. It’s bog standard dub defiance, but there’s something meditative in that refrain of “same thing everyday, every day same thing” – repeat it ad nauseam, til the words themselves throttle our powerful. If only. It comes from a 2011 collaborative effort between two producers called Mixmonster and Kalbata, who they decamped to Jamaica and hooked up with a wealth of their favourite MCs to produce a one-hundred percent analog effort.
The whole album is out on Freestyle Records. Give it a spin.
