The growing popularity of John Oliver’s HBO show ‘Last Week Tonight’ merits it another blogpost. This week he tackles inequality and the language of fear used to silence debate about it.
Three years ago President Obama challenged a group of historians to
‘…help me find a way to discuss the issue of inequality in our society without being accused of class warfare.’
His recent speech identified ‘income inequality’ as the biggest immediate threat to the nebulous ‘American Dream’. The conservatives reacted swiftly, labeling his speech a call to class war.

That was great
John Oliver’s podcast with Andy Zaltzman – The Bugle Podcast – is absolutely quality as well. It’s much in the same vein as the TV show, and it seems to have gone on a bit of hiatus with him doing TV, but even the back episodes are worth listening to. Sharp, irreverent and hilarious.
