The Music Will Not Be Televised.

Keen rabble readers will have copped us banging out links about The Parlour TV  series.  It’s a sick little DIY TV  show coming from the Dublin Community TV stable and the people behind Community of Independents.

Recently Ian Wilson of RTE and Cathal Funge from TXFM hopped on to chat about the state of Irish music radio.  The conversation dipped and dived around just how little support Irish music gets from radio with Ian Wilson doling out hilarious criticisms like “RTE don’t even know there is music going on” to be beat the band

The conversation lead the folk behind the show to consider music television. Producer of the show Barry Lennon says:

“We believe it’s even worse for those making music video content in Ireland as the opportunities for it to be shown on Irish television and television in general is extremely limited. We are looking for people to get behind the campaign to highlight this by sharing out their favorite music video content under #televisemusic as we believe we need to highlight the serious lack of an outlet for music and the amount of creative content that exists on this island.”

The Parlour is encouraging people to share their favourite music video content under the hashtag #televisemusic to highlight this sorry state of affairs

  1. Thanks for taking the time to talk about this, I feel strongly about it and really like mastering more on this subject. If feasible, as you acquire experience, would you mind updating your blog with much more information and facts? It is very helpful for me.
