Doubly exciting stuff today. A whopper looking new documentary lands about 1970’s gang culture in the Bronx and the roots of hip hop. Plus new material from Run The Jewels to soundtrack the lot.

The documentary looks at the events running up to the Hoe Avenue peace accord, a gang wide truce brokered between the gangs in the early 1970s.  This is definitely of interest to anyone interested in looking into some of the reality inspiring The Warriors movie, that fear trenched portrayal of the urban ghetto. There’s a few other viewings thrown in for good measure too to get you up to speed on some of this period.
