Fifty beds were closed last night at the Bru Hostel, and with nowhere left to go, residents took direct action to keep them open.

The hostel is managed by Crosscare and the closure comes despite the council passing two motions for the hostel to stay open beyond May.

The Digital Hub is run by the city council, under the sway of the Minister for Communications, Energy and Resources.  The Chief Executive of Dublin City Council, a man called Owen Keegan, even sits on the board of the Digital Hub.

With such direct power over the hostel, can any readers hazard a guess why it’s being closed down?
