Rua Sound is a new label coming out of Galway via Belguim and ran by two previous rabble contributors. It’s promising a release from Sully and Sam Binga in the new year on that whole new school of jungle tip. Give them a follow for more.
We’re Doing A Stall.
Right, so after getting that new issue out in double quick time we’re all set to hawk a tonne of rabble wares down at the flea market this weekend.
After a bit of messing from their landlord the Dublin Flea Market is going to put a bit of Christmas cheer into that corpse of a shopping centre down beside The Point Depot. We’ll be tucked away in some corner with a chest load of stocking fillers ranging from stickers, badge packs, back issues, tote bags and tshirts.
It’s going to be epic. If you can’t be bothered getting out of bed, then get an order in at our online shop.
Check their Facebook page for more information and find a map here.
Rush Hour Distribution Mix.
More journeys through vinyl via the All City mix series. This time it’s Rush Hour Distribution delivering the goodies. The dudes at Rush Hour had this to say about the mix: “A 1hr + plunge into the office jukebox by our intern, Fanny, who mixed it up in her lunch break, last Wednesday. Obviously we left a load of great stuff out (from all the other labels … Read More
Housing Emergency Podcast.
Above is an illustration by Phill Barret that accompanied a piece on rising house prices from rabble 7. Back at the start of October, a licorice all sorts box of academics and activists from all strands gathered for a day school on the housing crisis. Bits and pieces from the day have started appearing online as food for thought. First up there’s a recording of the proceedings featuring … Read More
Do Ya Want Copies Of #Rabble10 Sent To Your Door?
Righty oh folks, so we’ve done our best getting #rabble10 out as far afield as we could over the past seven days. That usually means it hits the urban centres first and then as people visit Dublin and haul it off it starts showing up in all kinds of places. We really do rely on readers like you to take bundles and drop them off around your community, chuck em to your friends or … Read More
Grab Yourself A #rabble10 Swag Bag.
We’ve chatted for a while about setting up some sort of subscriber based Swag Bag scheme to off set the cost of each issue. Yep, think the beano club ‘cept Dennis the Menace has worse language, scathing satirical wit and a shit day job. You’ll get a rabble care package with possibly more vitriol than love but hey if you weren’t fit for it you wouldn’t be reading. What’ll be … Read More
Inside The Grangegorman Squat.
Reader Sean Fitzgerald just sent this in. It’s an hour long recording of a discussion where the Grangegorman squatters outline their vision for the occupied space to members of the broader community and talk about activities in the space. The chat covers topics as diverse as guerrilla composting, free theatre and how you can build a 2 bedroom modern appartment with underfloor heating (powered by horseshit and wood chip) … Read More
In Vino Veritas.
While Health Minister Leo Varadkar roars at ye about what’s good for your health…remember Fine Gael is working for the Vintners. As the Blueshirts and the publicans work hand-in-glove the minimum pricing policy (Public health (Alcohol) Bill 2015) is being passed off as some kind of health initiative. Here’s the FG 2011 Manifesto: Supporting Irish Pubs: Fine Gael recognises the importance of the Irish pub for tourism, rural jobs and as … Read More
Bigotry Sans Borders.
Mícheál Donnchaidh is a Nordie Socialist Party activist and political cartoonist. Here he lands a dig at the bigot bill allowing religious discrimination being pushed through by everyone’s favorite gang of party poopers the DUP. Not only did their man Nelson McCausland ire the whole night time economy with a “chain up the swings” piecemeal attempt to sort out the place’s poxy licensing laws but the DUP also drove a leading restaurant owner out … Read More
#spareChange: Cleaning Up Ireland’s Messes Since 2009.
The Abortion Support Network is a solidarity organisation in the UK that picks up the pieces when our restrictive abortion laws force women to travel. They need cash. The video above sees one of their members give a backgrounder. They’ve already managed to raise enough for a part time staff person and are a safe bet to achieve some of their other strategic goals. So what do they do? Well, watch … Read More
