The Lads

We know that the American backed right-wing fundamentalist lobby that runs the so-called Pro-Life movement here has become far more media savvy in the last couple of decades. Rarely now do we see known fascists on stage, or their leaders sharing space with neo-nazis in Europe for instance.

Behind the propaganda and lies they run a slick misleading machines. For instance the main news in Ireland this evening carried the Pro Life Campaign’s ‘poll result’ that 66% of people wanted no change in abortion legislation. The Yes/No question asked in the poll that gives them this obviously incorrect statistic was this:

In current medical practice in Ireland, the doctor treats the expectant mother and her baby as two patients and does his/her best to safeguard both in a crisis situation. Do you consider that this practice should be protected and safeguarded by law or not?

Great bunch of lads aren’t they? Meanwhile at least 3 women a week leave Galway for England to have abortions every week: https://www.rabble.ie/2013/02/21/boat/

  1. The art of the loaded question. The real question is, who pulls the strings to have such rubbish published.

  2. there’s lies damn lies and statistics. I worked in market research for years, its rigged full of leading questions and also a huge section of the population are left out from most research done through phone surveys. especially now that most young people use mobiles and not land lines, com reg really limits research done with mobile phones. The question asked is so unbelieving leading look at this line “best to safeguard both in a crisis situation”….Absolute bullshit. Full question = “In current medical practice in Ireland, the doctor treats the expectant mother and her baby as two patients and does his/her best to safeguard both in a crisis situation. Do you consider that this practice should be protected and safeguarded by law or not?”
