Golden Teacher are a Glasgow collective forging together a blend of sounds copped from various afro beats, dubbed out traditions and spasmodic bursts of party driving disco.

Having met each other through production courses designed for job seekers in The Green Door Studio in Glasgow and with roots in the Optimo stable,  they’re since branched into self releasing their own material and sit alongside a peer group that contains the percussion peddling of DJ collective Ghana Soundz and the Youth Stand Up album project.

They’ve just popped out a compilation containing their first three EPs, all of which sold out in no time at all. If you are looking for good time cacophonous skank out tunes then here you go. It’s a space where Fela Kuti meets The Bug.

No wonder they’re ratcheting up on the end of year lists too, being featured in both Wired magazine on heavy rotation and The Vinyl Factory.

Someone bring them to Dublin. Please.

Keep an ear on them over at on Soundcloud.
