JASSS – Oral Couture (iDEAL Recordings)

JASSS debut LP Weightless is one of my favourite albums this year, with Industrial, EBM and Jazz inspired leanings there are so many gems to pick from. but her track Oral Couture squeezes on to the list above the rest.

Davy Kehoe – Storm Desmond (Wah Wah Wino)

There were so many unreal Irish releases this year, but Davy’s definitely sticks out as a favourite for me, so much goodness on this debut EP, big up Davy and the Wino crew <3

Broken English Club – Pylon (LIES)

I was lucky enough to catch Broken English Club live this year as well as seeing him DJ at Katharsis in August and Oliver Ho does not disappoint. His second Broken English Club album The English Beach switches between experimental tracks and more dancefloor oriented tunes. The EBM-esque Pylon is one of my faves off this album and one that got played in many of my sets this year.

Lanark Artefax – Touch Absence (Whities)

Lanark Artefax’s excellent debut live set at this year’s Unsound was definitely a festival highlight, this track off his recent Whities release is a firm fave.

Karen Gwyer – The Workers Are On Strike (Don’t be Afraid)

Karen being an absolute boss as always. Not much more to say really.

Favourite gig

Very hard to pick just one, but Giant Swan at Unsound this year stands out. It began with them walking on stage topless, spraying booze at the audience and what followed was a mind-blowing live performance of improvised industrial techno.
