Ted by oilbag If you’re looking for a dose of noise then this Oilbag lot are over from London to play a gig in everyone’s favourite parish hall for the bewildered. Yes, that’s Jigsaw. The tracks above are the raw records of a practice session that took place as results of the recent Brexit referendum became clear. Make of that what thou wilt. Don’t Start Wahing, It’ll Be Grand.
Photos from The Grand Social facebook page. Dublin’s northside gets a new clubbing space in The Grand Social. If you’ve been in The Grand Social lately you may have noticed the work being done on the ballroom downstairs. The refurbishment sees the venue change tack and aim to draw in a regular crowd of dance music enthusiasts. Taking over the reins are Hidden Agenda and This Greedy Pig. They’re launching … Read More
Photos Of Loud Noises.
Bit Thorn went down to a rawk show the other evening in The Bello Bar (that’s the Lower Deck to you old timers…) and took some fine snaps and scrambled out some short reviews. First up was Be Honest who was billed as lo-fi rural noise but I would say noise is a bit harsh. Very interesting use of samples to create an eerie and dark soundscape. With a new video for Cold Old Fire due out soon, they stuck up this original demo featuring Cian Lawless. Give it a … Read More
Ushering In The End.
The Screen Cinema on D’Olier street closed on Monday, after more than 30 years in operation. The cinema, known for showing international and cult films, will be sorely missed, as will the squat little statue out front which was uprooted a week before the cinema closed. Mr.Screen, a statue of a cinema usher was created in 1988 by artist Vincent Browne (no, not #vinb, this guy). Much loved by regulars … Read More
Sunday Night Revision.
It’s Sunday night and morbid eyes turn to watching RTE’s Rebellion with rubber necking glee. How bad can it get this week? Thankfully, here’s some alternative viewing. One of our readers sent this on: “With that revisionist nonsense currently doing the rounds on RTE, this brilliant depiction of the Rising and Tan War should be seen more- despite it having been buried over the last decade and a half. … Read More
