There will be a Human “Refugees Welcome” aerial photograph on Sandymount Strand today from 2.30pm.

You’re all cordially invited to the family-friendly event which is organised by a host of advocacy groups:

Make yourself heard. Let’s tell our government that people in Ireland want to extend the Céad Míle Fáilte to the thousands escaping conflicts. European ministers are meeting on Monday 14th September to agree a new programme.

So, on Sunday 13th Sept let’s get together to send a strong message that we stand with refugees and for humanity! This will be a family-friendly event. Bring kids. You may need hot flasks and (colourful!) umbrellas (optional, slight chance of rain).

Please be prepared to be there from 2.30pm sharp to 5pm. It takes time to coordinate hundreds of people to arrange them into letters for the shot, so please bear with us! Bring buckets and spades for kids, musical instruments, flasks of tea and coffee, and hats.

Please meet us at 2.30 sharp at the public park entrance to Sandymount Strand, on Beach Road, opposite Marine Drive. Stewards there will help you to get oriented.

For Public Transport:

DART stations: Landsdowne Rd & Sandymount.

Bus routes: 4 or 7 (to Ailesbury Road). also 1, 77A, 151 and 47 and others…

Organised by:

ActionAid Ireland, Comhlámh, CORI (Conference of Religious in Ireland), Crosscare Migrant Project, Dóchas, Enar Ireland, Immigrant Council of Ireland, Irish Missionary Union, Irish Refugee Council, Mercy International Association, Migrant Rights Centre Ireland, Oxfam Ireland, Peter McVerry Trust, Trocaire. SIPTU

Cyclists! There will be a “Critical Mass” of cyclists joining this event. They plan to leave from the Spire at 1.30pm.

  1. Why bother when they’ll be housed in Direct Provision Centre and monitored. After granted refugee status they’ll be housed in long term accommodations.
    Lovely words
