Solidarity protests across Ireland and also in London this evening as supporters denounce the criminalisation of women in Northern Ireland for taking abortion pills that are legal in England.
There’s a statement on the London organisers’ Facebook page:
“Wear red (symbol of the IWASG women who used to wear red to help women find them at airports). Bring torches and placards if you have time. #NotACriminal #TrustWomen. We will protest outside the Northern Ireland office in London in solidarity (and at the same time!) as Alliance for Choice in Belfast, the Abortion Rights Campaign in Dublin and Galway Pro-Choice in Galway city. The London demo is supported by Speaking of Imelda SisterSupporter and Red London”
“We stand in solidarity with our sisters in Northern Ireland who have been arrested and charged with accessing and administering abortion pills, Mifepristine and Misoprostal.”
