A sad day for punk and underground music lovers. The lead singer of Belfast’s iconic street punk outfit Runnin’ Riot died while on tour.
Late yesterday the band posted to their Facebook page:
“We are devastated to announce that our brother and comrade Colin passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning. Anyone who knew Colin knows his passion for music and his love for Runnin’ Riot and our family/fans. We would like to thank Lars and The Old Firm Casuals for their unwavering support at this time, and pulling the tour would never have been an option for Colin. So with our blessing the show must go on. For now our priority is getting Colin home to the arms of Belfast town. Our love and thoughts go out to Nikki and Colin’s extended family.”
The band gave an interview to a blog called An East End Girl last year, give it a read to fill yourself in on them. We always loved their not so subtle re-appropriation of the Buckfast tonic wine branding for their band.
Head over to Bandcamp and give some of their tunes a whirl.
